In the golden autumn of October, as the season deepens, the International School of Engineering hosted the “ ISE Gathering” Freshman Theme Symposium on the evening of October 22, 2025, in Room 1111 of the Modern Education Center. This event aimed to help the Class of 2025 undergraduate freshmen quickly adapt to university life and clarify their growth paths.Yang Ping, Secretary of the Party Branch of ISE, Hu Yang, the freshman counselor, along with sophomore student assistants and freshman representatives, gathered for a warm exchange. Refreshments and snacks were thoughtfully provided at the symposium venue, reflecting the school's attentive care for new students and setting a warm tone for this initial gathering. The “ISE Gathering” symposium was hosted by Hu Yang.
活动伊始，杨萍书记结合公司发展与专业特色，为新生们描绘了大学四年的成长蓝图。她以亲身经历为例，强调在全球化背景下，同学们应主动培养国际眼光，以更开阔的视野洞察行业动态。公司在国际学术交流、考取国际专业资质、参与跨国工程合作等方面，均搭建了丰富平台。她鼓励大家尽早树立对国际发展路径的认识，从而在未来拥有更广阔的发展空间和更多元的成长可能。
At the outset of the event, Secretary Yang Ping outlined a four-year growth blueprint for the freshmen, integrating the school's development trajectory with its disciplinary strengths. Drawing from her personal experience, she emphasized that in today's globalized landscape, students should proactively cultivate an international perspective to gain broader insights into industry trends. ISE has established diverse platforms for international academic exchanges, pursuing global professional certifications, and engaging in multinational engineering collaborations. She encouraged students to develop an early awareness of international career pathways, thereby securing broader future opportunities and more diverse growth possibilities.
在问题交流环节，本科新生围绕评奖评优制度、就业与考研、专业课及英语学习等方面踊跃提问。关于评奖评优，胡洋老师为同学们作了系统介绍，鼓励大家全面提升自我能力。在就业与考研方面，胡老师结合往届毕业生数据，介绍了公司的就业优势，并分享了留学与考研的规划建议，鼓励同学们尽早确立目标。针对专业课与英语学习，他建议同学们主动与老师沟通交流、积极请教，同时特别强调了英语学习的重要性。
During the Q&A session, freshmen actively raised questions about the award and honor system, employment and postgraduate entrance exams, major courses, and English learning. Regarding awards and honors, Hu Yang provided a systematic overview, encouraging students to comprehensively enhance their capabilities. On employment and postgraduate studies, Hu highlighted the school's employment advantages using data from previous graduates and shared planning advice for studying abroad and pursuing postgraduate degrees, urging students to establish their goals early. For specialized courses and English learning, he advised students to proactively communicate with instructors and seek guidance, while particularly emphasizing the importance of English proficiency.

座谈会后，参与人员的感悟真挚深刻。助班代表梁馨予结合经验，阐述要多与老师，学长学姐多沟通，要抓住任何机会，不断提升自己，打破自己的不可能。
25环境1班陈馨懿感慨“听了杨萍书记和胡洋老师的讲解也收获颇多，很多疑惑也都被解开了，并且找到了努力的方向。”
25土木1班曹英坦言“这次座谈会让我受益匪浅，积极参加专业活动、多和老师沟通、大胆走出国门看世界，这才是国工学子该有的姿态！”。
25建筑1班刘振葆聚焦“国际”特色：“原来英语不只是一门课，更是我们和世界交流的工具！今后我要在学习中多练口语、多找国际资源，让英语成为专业发展的‘加分项’。
Following the symposium, participants shared profound and heartfelt reflections. Liang Xinyu, representing the teaching assistants, emphasized the importance of actively communicating with faculty and senior peers based on her experience. She urged everyone to seize every opportunity for self-improvement and to challenge their own limitations.
Chen Xinyi from Class 1, Environmental Science 25, remarked, “Secretary Yang Ping and Professor Hu Yang's insights were incredibly valuable. Many of my uncertainties were resolved, and I now have a clearer direction for my efforts.”
Cao Ying from Class 25 Civil Engineering 1 shared, “This symposium was immensely valuable. Actively participating in professional activities, communicating more with teachers, and boldly stepping beyond borders to see the world—this is the attitude we as students of ISE should embody!”
Liu Zhenbao from Class 25 Architecture 1 emphasized the “international” dimension: “I now realize English isn't just a subject—it's our tool for connecting with the world! Moving forward, I'll focus on practicing spoken English and seeking international resources to make English a key asset in my professional development.”
